Hunting season is, in retrospect, almost more dangerous for hunters than the prey!
When deer hunting is in season, for example, it is best not to even enter woods.
If you're in step with another hunter, you might think you're safe.
But partners have been known to shoot their friends by mistake as well.
They get them to a hospital in second to no time, that's for sure, but too many people die of gunshot wounds while they are in surgery while their friends look on in silence.
In short Just don't go in the woods at all!
In the absence of this wise advice, my friend went into the woods last year.
In search of his lost dog, my friend took every warning in stock: he wore orange clothing, made a lot of noise,
and even sang a song so people would know he was a person in the act of looking for a dog. He still got shot!
He was just lucky he was in shape, in that he had to crawl out of the woods by himself,
in spite of the person who shot him still being nearby.
I visited him later that day in the hospital. And in terms of almost dying, he was in quite good spirits.
We all looked in shock when the dog came walking into the room like nothing had happened.
He had never been in the woods in the first place, just at the neighbor's playing with the neighbor's kids.
So heed this warning: stay out of the woods during hunting season!
